Message from the Academic & Cultural Director of BOD

Dr. Md. Mahmud Uz Zaman
Academic & Cultural Director of BISES
2018- Present

Welcome to The Bangladesh International School, English Section (BISES) Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where our students develop as Inquirers, Thinkers and Communicators. I believe in the power of a quality childhood education which focuses on fostering and developing children’s natural curiosity about the world around them. I value the uniqueness of each child as a learner and the need to create an environment that is safe and secure. Establishing positive relationships with children, parents and teachers are paramount to success for every school going child. We need to be open minded, culturally sensitive and understand that children bring a wide range of knowledge and experiences with them to the classroom. We need to use students’ prior knowledge and previous experiences as a basis for further learning. As Sports and cultural director I think finding a balance between the academic, physical, social, emotional and cultural development of young learners is an integral part of education. Though our students are living in Saudi Arabia, they are Bangladeshi origin. They should also learn more about their history and their culture. If children understand Bangladesh’s history, they will understand their parents better, and they will better understand what Bangladesh needs in the future. We hope to teach our students about our beautiful culture. If more Bangladeshi children love and respect their home, hopefully they will work hard in the future to help make their country great. Well educated Bangladeshi’s often go abroad for work, but we hope that we can teach our children that they are the ones who can make a difference in Bangladesh once they are adults. I hope that you will join us in our efforts to support the growth and development of Bangladesh’s youth. It takes strong individuals to stand up and ask for change, but I want that change for the wellbeing of our children, and that is why I do what I do. I am sure your connection with the BISES will be a positive one and looking forward to work in partnership with you.
